Adoption Information
The total cost for a Livy Lou Labradoodle puppy is $3950. When you feel ready to commit to purchasing a puppy, we ask for a $500 reservation fee to be paid to secure your spot on our waitlist for a puppy from a particular litter. If we were unable to offer you the specific gender or colour you requested when the litter was born we would refund your reservation fee. The remaining amount of the puppy purchase price is due when the puppies are 6 weeks old.
Our puppies come from top quality multi-generational Australian Labradoodle bloodlines. All of our puppies come registered with the Australian Labradoodle Association and come with a certificate of pedigree.
The DNA profiling and health screening of our breeding dogs enables us to offer a 2 year genetic health guarantee. We also have all of our breeding dogs hips and elbows x-rayed and evaluated by internationally renown specialists to limit the risk of your puppy developing hip or elbow dysplasia.
It is our mission, as much as we can control, to produce puppies that will live a long happy and healthy life.
At 6 weeks old our puppies are taken to the vet for a comprehensive health check. At the same time they are microchipped and will be given their first vaccination.
After their vet check and first vaccination, our puppy families will be given the opportunity to meet their puppy in person at our home.
From when the puppies are born, right up until go home day we send lots of photos and videos regularly to all of our waitlisted families. We love building personal relationships with each and every one of our families, and supporting them through every step of the journey.
Puppies are ready to go to their forever home when they are 8 weeks of age.
We take out a pet insurance policy for all Livy Lou Labradoodle puppies with Knose Pet Insurance. This policy is active when you receive your puppy, and it will remain active for a few weeks after you pick up your puppy. Knose will contact you and give you the option to continue the policy and transfer it to your name, offering the first month for free.
We follow the Puppy Culture Curriculum. Raising resilient, well-adjusted puppies doesn't happen by chance. Its something we intentionally build into every single day of their early lives.
In their first few weeks of your puppies life, we routinely perform a series of gentle exercises known as ENS (Early Neurological Stimulation), which are designed to help develop their senses and resilience. As soon as their little ears are open and they are able to hear, we introduce a wide variety of everyday sounds in a safe and controlled way. This includes household noises like vacuums, washing machines, and kitchen clatter, as well as more unpredictable sounds such as recorded thunderstorms and fireworks. These are always introduced gradually and at a low volume first, paired with calm, positive experiences like feeding or cuddles, so that the puppies learn that these sounds are nothing to fear.
Our puppies are gently and regularly touched all over - paws, ears, mouths and all over their bodies - helping them become more comfortable with grooming, vet checks, and everyday human interaction. We begin early exposure to tools like clippers and brushes, allowing them to feel vibrations and hear unfamiliar noises in a non-threatening way.
As they grow, we expand their environment. Different surfaces, new textures and small obstacles are introduced to encourage curiosity, problem-solving skills and independence. We start early routine building - introducing sleep areas in an open crate, which sets the foundations in place for later crate training, and toilet zones.
From an early age, our puppies are introduced to being handled by our two children (aged 7 and 10) in a calm, supervised environment. We focus on gentle handling and respecting the puppies space. This helps the puppies associate children with safety and comfort, not stress.
Everything we do is based on creating positive associations. The result is puppies that are emotionally resilient, desensitised and adaptable, and ready to thrive in their new homes.
The Australian Labradoodle is a thoughtfully developed breed, known for its exceptional temperament, intelligence, and family-friendly nature. Originally bred to combine the best qualities of the Labrador Retriever, Poodle, and a smaller percentage of Cocker Spaniel, today’s Australian Labradoodle is a consistent, multi-generational breed prized for companionship, therapy work, and adaptability.
A Purpose-Bred Companion
Unlike early Labradoodle crosses, the Australian Labradoodle has been carefully refined over decades to ensure predictable traits in temperament, coat, and structure. Breeders focused on creating a dog that is not only beautiful, but also calm, intuitive, and easy to live with.
They are widely recognised for their gentle, affectionate personalities and are often chosen as:
Family pets
Therapy and assistance dogs
Emotional support companions
Their natural ability to connect with people makes them especially suited to homes with children.
Temperament
Australian Labradoodles are known for their:
Friendly and social nature
High intelligence and trainability
Calm, intuitive temperament
Strong desire to be part of the family
They thrive on human interaction and are happiest when included in daily life. Early socialisation and positive experiences help them grow into confident, well-rounded dogs.
Coat & Allergy-Friendly Qualities
One of the most loved features of the Australian Labradoodle is its low to non-shedding coat which can be:
Fleece (soft and silky, either wavy or curly)
Wool (denser, more like a Poodle coat)
While no dog is completely hypoallergenic, many families who suffer from allergies find Australian Labradoodles to be a suitable choice due to their low shedding and minimal dander.
Regular grooming is essential to maintain coat health and prevent matting.
Size & Appearance
Australian Labradoodles come in three main sizes:
Miniature: approx. 7–13kg
Medium: approx. 13–20kg
Standard: approx. 20–30kg
They are well-balanced, athletic dogs with a soft, expressive face and a signature “teddy bear” appearance.
Health & Lifespan
Reputable breeders focus heavily on health testing and responsible breeding practices. When bred correctly, Australian Labradoodles are generally healthy dogs with a lifespan of around 12–15 years.
Ethical breeders screen for genetic conditions and only breed dogs that meet strict health and temperament standards.
Exercise & Lifestyle
Australian Labradoodles are adaptable and suit a variety of lifestyles, from active families to more relaxed households. They enjoy:
Daily walks
Playtime and enrichment
Training and mental stimulation
They are not typically suited to being left alone for long periods, as they are highly people-oriented dogs.
Grooming Needs
Regular coat care is essential for Australian Labradoodles to keep them comfortable and looking their best.
A typical grooming routine includes:
Brushing: 2–4 times per week to prevent knots and matting
Professional grooming: Every 8 weeks for clipping and coat maintenance
Bathing: As needed, usually every 3–4 weeks or when dirty
Ear care: Regular cleaning to prevent infections
Nail trimming: Every few weeks
Establishing a grooming routine from a young age helps puppies learn to enjoy the process and makes ongoing care much easier.
Why Choose a Livy Lou Australian Labradoodle?
The Australian Labradoodle is more than just a beautiful dog — it’s a devoted companion. Their combination of intelligence, gentle nature, and low-shedding coat makes them an ideal choice for many families.
At Livy Lou Labradoodles, we are passionate about raising puppies that reflect everything this wonderful breed is known for — health, temperament, and a lifelong ability to bring joy to their families.
Our Guardian Family Program allows our breeding dogs to live a wonderful life as a cherished pet with a forever family, while playing a meaningful role in raising the next generation of exceptionally bred puppies that change lives.
How the Guardian Program Works
A guardian family is given one of our top pick puppies of breeding quality (best temperament, health and conformation) at a reduced cost. The guardian family gets to raise a beautiful Australian Labradoodle as their own, while we retain breeding rights for a limited time.
Once the dog retires from breeding, full ownership is transferred to the guardian family.
Our guardian families are responsible for:
Daily care, grooming and exercise
Feeding a premium diet (as recommended by us)
Ongoing training and socialisation
Routine worming and flea/tick prevention
Maintaining pet insurance for the duration of the contract
Veterinary expenses not related to breeding
As the breeder we are responsible for:
All breeding-related costs and decisions
Health testing specific to breeding requirements
Support and guidance every step of the way
Breeding Commitments
The commitments differ slightly for males and females:
Female Dogs
Have a maximum of 3 litters of puppies
The girl remains with her guardian family for most of her pregnancy, coming to us approximately 1 week before her due date and staying until puppies are weaned at approximately 6 to 7 weeks
Male Dogs
Required only on an 'as needed' basis for mating a few times a year
Retire as a stud by 6 years of age
We always aim to make this process as smooth and minimally disruptive as possible for both you and your dog.
Is Becoming a Guardian Family Right for You?
Guardian families are a very important part of what we do. The ideal family will:
Strongly believe in the guardian program as a way to ethically breed puppies. We would otherwise suggest that a pet puppy is more suitable.
Be located within an hour drive of us (Gold Coast or Brisbane)
Be flexible and willing to work with us during breeding periods
Treat the dog as a true member of the family
Be committed to raising a well-trained, well-socialised dog
If you think you might be a great fit, we would love to hear from you.
